Just putting it out there to try and find other roasters working on a Loring that may like to share information about roasting profiles and the like.......

Kris, have you talked directly to Loring? Perhaps they will give you a list of some clients that are currently operating a Smart Roaster. Here's a very limited list off the top of my head...

- George Howell Coffee Company
- Coffee Collective
- da Matteo

Does anyone else know of any other companies for Kris to contact?

Supersonic is really cool. Blue Bottle has a couple. Counter Culture is spinning some up in Emeryville.

Hello all (again)-

I'm looking to get some input on the Loring Roasters from anyone who has used one and is willing to tell me about their experience. This thread seemed like a good starting place!

I'm using a Diedrich IR12 right now, in the next 1.5 years or so I'm thinking of moving up to the Kestrel.

Thank you Colleen and Arno for the list of Roasters. I'll see if I can find some contact info and ask my questions. Some of us Roasters are more open and available to share experiences so I hope I don't step on any toes. All I'm interested in is (besides is the coffee good!)- how many pounds can you squeeze in there, cleaning and maintenance stuff. Nothing too specific. I'm skeptical of the max load size, particularly with the amount of BTUS listed for each model. They must be very efficient.

I am going to visit Loring in late July to see what they have but I thought it prudent to ask someone who isn't trying to sell me one about their experiences. If anyone feels more comfortable contacting me directly (vs posting on the board) feel free to do so through email- azrichg@me.com .

Thank you ahead of time,

Rich
